One of the saddest truths our young people face today is that they are often not valued for who they are and what they can accomplish. For me, I have always had a different perspective about youth. I have seen youth along the spectrum of crisis situations to healthy environments.

What have I discovered time and time again about these young people? These young people truly just want someone to care about them and believe in them.

And, it has been in working directly with youth that I have seen them come alive and reach new heights because they have had someone in their corner cheering them on. That is what has kept me working with and volunteering with youth.

So why do I value young people? It’s really simple. They were made for a purpose and have so much possibility. They are, after all, God’s children.

Then people brought little children to Jesus for him to place his hands on them and pray for them. But the disciples rebuked them.

Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.”
